Monster Figure Case

Chaosmailorder.com received a stock of the Monster Figure Case from GW today.  GW has this listed as a “While Stocks Last” item which means it is a limited release.  Once GW’s stocks are gone, we won’t be able to get it again.  Due to the limited release and large size (orders will probably be shipping in 2 boxes), Chaosmailorder.com is charging $82.50 for the Case.  The $82.50 will count towards free shipping, so you’re just $17.50 away from it.

The Monster Figure Case has the same sturdy black plastic exterior we’ve seen in the other cases GW has offered.  The case contains 2 exterior pads of cushioning egg-crate foam, 2 4-inch customizable trays, and 1 flat pad to divide the halves of the case.  The customizable units are made of pre-scored pluck foam that goes all the way through the tray.  You can configure the case in a multitude of ways allowing you to carry a variety of monstrous creatures, tanks or even a single Ork Stompa.

The case has the same length and width as a GW standard figure case, but is twice as deep.  You can easily remove a layer of foam and replace it with the 3 layers of infantry foam from the standard case.  It provides you with a level of versatility for smaller games or for someone who isn’t Mech heavy enough to fill both sides yet.

The case does have a downside.  Since the case opens down the middle, you’re going to have to be careful opening it.  You cannot set it flat and open the “lid” as that part holds half your models.  When you do that you’re at risk of having them slip out.  The only thing holding them to the roof is the friction between the foam and case.  It would have been nice to have a snap-in hard plastic divider to prevent accidents, but would have driven the cost up.  Instead, you’ll need to have the case in the upright position before opening.  After releasing the catches, pull the halves apart and down evenly until the case lies flat.
